What are your hours of operation?
Our hours of operation vary by the season and weather condition. Please check our Hours of Operation on the main page of our website (yes, we update it every day). Also, what you must know is that taking the last cable car only allows 30 minutes of tour up at Gwongeumseong.
How frequently do you operate cable car?
We operate cable car every 5 to 15 minutes depending on the traffic flow.
Can I reserve tickets?
Unfortunately, we do not accept reservation. All tickets are sold at the cable car station for that day on first come first serve basis.
How long is the cable car ride?
It takes 10 minutes for round trip, 5 minutes each way.
Are there any discount programs?
Children under 36 months old are free. We also offer discount if you are a man of national merit or have level 1 or 2 disability. There is no group discount.
Once I take the cable car up to Gwongeumsung, can I hike down?
You cannot hike down. There is no hiking trail, and thus, you can only travel by the cable car.
Can I buy one way ticket?
Sorry. there is no one way ticket. All tickets are sold as round trip.
Can I carry a stroller?
Strollers are not allowed in the cable car. There is free stroller storage outside of the cable car station.
Do you have access for wheelchairs?
Yes, we have access for passengers with disabilities. You can take the elevator to 2nd floor platform.
Do you allow pets?
Sorry. Pets are not allowed in the cable car.
Do you have lost & found?
We have lost & found at the 1st floor office. Come in and ask receptionist for help.
Where is your office?
It's located on the 1st floor of Seorak-dong cable car station, and you will see to your right side as you enter the station from the main entrance.
What can I see when I go up to Gwongeumseong?
You can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Seorak National Park. If you walk about 10 minutes up the mountain from the platform, you will get to the top of Gwongeumseong, which is called Bonghwadae. If you walk 5 minutes down the mountain from the platform, you will get to a small temple Anrakarm, and right beside the temple, there is a 800-year-old pine tree.
Do you sell something eat at Gwongeumseong?
Yes, we have a café and a snack bar.
What are the altitude and the length of Gwongeumseong?
The altitude is approximately 700m, and the length is approximately 1.2km (1,200m).
Are there restrooms at Gwongeumseong?
Yes. In order to protect environment, it uses foams instead of water which some people find it inconvenient. We strongly recommend that you use restroom before you go up to Gwongeumseong.
Where is the cable car platform?
The Seorak-dong platform is located on the 2nd floor and the Gwongeumseong platform is located on the 1st floor.
Are there any seats in the cable car?
There are small seats for 2 ~ 3 people in the cable car for any passengers in need. Most passengers prefer to stand while they ride to enjoy the view.
How many cable cars do you operate?
We operate two cable cars.
Do you ever close?
We are open for operation 365 days a year as long as weather permits. However, we close our operation if wind is too strong or weather becomes unsafe for passengers to travel up the mountain.
How long can I stay at Gwongeumseong?
You can stay at Gwongeumseong as long as you like. There is no time limit. If you take the last car of the day going up to Gwongeumseong, you will have 30 minutes before you have to return.
Are there a lot of tourists on weekends?
We usually have more tourists during weekend and holidays.
What is the capacity of the cable car?
Our cable cars are built to accommodate 70 passengers. We usually allow only up to 50 passengers to provide more comfort to passengers.
What if I miss my boarding time?
We can either reissue a new ticket or give you refund with 20% processing fee.
Are there refunds?
You can get 100% full refund up to 10 minutes before boarding time. After that, we will refund you 80% of the ticket price.
Is there a place to smoke?
The entire national park area is no-smoking zone. There is a very heavy penalty if you smoke.
When does the fog lift? When does the wind stop?
Unfortunately, we cannot answer to this question because even forecasts are often wrong.
